Over the years Christmas movies have changed a lot. While
Christmas movies of the past focused on the spirit of the season
and offered inspiration to their viewer, newer Christmas movies
tend to focus on humor and the personal relationships between
family members. Whether you are a fan of the old or new Christmas
movies, there are a few movies which have proven to stand the test
of time. These movies have overcome all cultural, economic, age,
gender, and racial barriers. Chances are no matter what walk of
life you come from, you have seen at least one of the movies which
made it onto my list of best Christmas
movies.
My choices for the number 10 spot goes to Jingle All The Way.
This movie was released in 1996 and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and
Sinbad. This movie combines both humor and good family values which
make it an excellent choice to watch as a family. Adults and
children both love this movie. What can be better than a Christmas
movie which brings together the whole family.
The number 9 spot goes to Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. This
movie was made for TV and was never released in theaters. This
animated movie provides a new twist on the origins of Santa
Claus.
The number 8 spot is taken by Scrooged starring Bill Murray.
This movie is a modern rendition of Charles Dickenson's A Christmas
Carol.
Number 7 is awarded to Home Alone 2. There really is only one
word to describe this movie, and that is simply hilarious. Usually
I am not a big fan of sequels, but this one outdid a great job of
continuing the success of the original.
Number 6 on my list of best Christmas movies is Bad Santa with
Bernie Mack. This is definitely not a movie you should watch with
the kids, especially the younger ones. The strictly adult humor in
this film is a refreshing change to the traditional Christmas
movies.
At number 5 there is Elf starring Will Farell. Unlike many other
Christmas movies which tell the same story over and over again,
this movie is considerably more original. That is why it is one of
my favorites.
Home Alone takes the number 4 spot on my list. The practical
jokes in this movie are classic and help offset the sappy family
stuff. I am not saying the sappy family stuff is all bad, but a
great Christmas movie has to offer me more.
Number 3 belong to The Santa Claus. This movie gives an entirely
new meaning to role of Santa Claus. The writer of this script sure
has got one great imagination, and produced one of the most
original Christmas movies I have ever saw.
The runner up in spot number 2 is A Christmas Story. This movie
is a perfect example of a movie which has stood up to the test of
time. Generations of people has watched and loved this movie.
Chances are everyone in your house, both young and old can resit at
least one line from this movie.
Without further or do, the number one spot on my list of best
Christmas movies goes to Christmas Vacations starring Chevy
Chase.
