One of the most hilarious and memorable Christmas movies would
have to be "
A Christmas Story." This Christmas movie is about a precious
little boy named Ralphie who wants nothing more than to have a "Red
Ryder BB Gun" for Christmas. As the movie begins to unfold, you
will see that Ralph will stop at nothing to try to convince his
mother that he really needs to have this particular toy for
Christmas. Throughout the movie, his mother and others will cry out
one of the signature catchphrases in the movie, "You'll shoot your
eye out"
However, despite the warnings of his mother and even his
teachers little Ralph is determined to have what he wants. While
Ralphie goes through his everyday life leading up to Christmas, he
deals with bullies and other various mishaps. One day in school,
one of Ralph's little friends decides to place his tongue on a
flagpole outside in freezing weather after a dare. The naïve child
accepts the bet only to end out that his tongue will in fact
stick.
All the children that are surrounding the little boy begin to
panic and run away when they see that he is stuck to the pole. The
young boy, named "Flick" stands outside screaming for help. When
Ralphie and his classmate return to class the teacher questions the
children have they seen the child. The children look rather
suspicious but reply that they have not.
The teacher asks again and one little girl points her finger
towards the classroom window. The teacher looks out the wind and
shrieks as she sees the child failing his arms around outside in
the snow frozen to the flagpole. In the next scene, you will see
firefighters arriving and a young gingered haired boy cries out,
"Holy Cow it's the Fire Department." After the Fire Department has
arrived, police make it on the scene as well.
The same child cries out "Wow, it's the Cops" Once the police
arrive, they then are able to free Flick and he returns to class
with his tongue bandaged. This movie is just perfect for those who
want a Christmas
movie that is filled with laughter. One particular scene in the
movie involves Ralphie and his little brother Randy going to the
mall with his parents to visit Santa Claus.
Nothing but laughter ensues when small Randy sees that Santa
Claus is making many other children scream and cry. Though Randy is
afraid, Ralph wants to tell Santa his Christmas list. After waiting
in a very long line Ralph meets Santa and some very pushy people
dressed as elves place him roughly onto Santa's lap. After he sits
in Santa's lap Ralphie tells him about his desire to have a "Red
Ryder BB Gun."
Ralph begins to smile with glee that he has told Santa his wish,
but to his dismay, Santa Clause recites the same thing that his
mother says, "You'll shoot your eye out kid" Santa Claus then
removes Ralph from his lap, wishes his a humdrum "Merry Christmas"
and forces him down a slide, placing his black boot on the young
child's face.A few days before Christmas Ralphie has to face the
neighborhood bully Scott Farkus. Poor Ralph, having had enough
begins to fight the mean bully and in the middle of each punch he
shouts out swear words.
Many children stand in awe as he pounds away at the bully. As he
punches the bully, the children try to warn him that his mother is
coming. His mother arrives and hears what he is saying and Ralph
stops fighting and notices his glasses are broken. His mother, who
understand what the fight was all about takes her two sons home and
tries to get Ralphie to calm down and stop crying.
The mother's main concern was to make sure that their father
does not know that Ralph was in a fight and broke his glasses.
After that whole ordeal Christmas comes and Ralph is given a
present that is not what he really wants. He receives a pink pair
of bunny pajamas from his auntie. Once he puts it on after begin
forced by his mother, his father makes a wise crack and tells the
child he look like a, "Deranged Easter Bunny."
Ralph is saddened for a while only to discover that his father
has another present hidden just for Ralph. Ralphie scrambles to see
what the last present tucked away is. To his surprise as he rips
away the wrapping, it is in fact his precious "Red Ryder BB Gun."
Ralph is overwhelmed and goes outside to play. Just when he is
having loads of fun with the gun, one of the BB's ricochets and
hits him in the face knocking his glasses off his face. He begins
to think that he has in fact shot his eye out. He being to cry and
his mother comes to his aide. The movie ends, as the family has to
go out to a Chinese Restaurant because the neighbor's dogs came
into their home and devoured their Christmas Turkey.
